2020 Undergraduate Research (REU) Program at UC San Diego: San Diego Nanotechnology Infrastructure

Friends of Education,

Greetings! My name is Jonathan Gonzalez and I am contacting you on behalf of Beto Vasquez. We work with at UC San Diego where we focus our efforts on increasing diversity in STEM. At CREATE, we realize that creating equitable educational opportunities and access to research experience is instrumental in cultivating an individual’s success and promoting STEM diversity.

The San Diego Nanotechnology Infrastructure (SDNI) contributes to the development of nanoscience, nanoengineering, and nanotechnology education by providing: Training of students (undergraduates and graduates), postdoctoral fellows, and more senior researchers, including engineers working in industry who are new to nanofabrication and characterization.

The SDNI-REU offers a 10-week summer research experience for undergraduates at UC San Diego. Students are paired with leading researchers in science and engineering fields. Research areas include: NanoBioMedicine, NanoPhotonics, and NanoMagnetics. The goal is to prepare students for advanced studies in a Ph.D. program. Participants are paid a $4,500 stipend, housing, and up to $500 in travel expenses.

Beto, as the Program Manager for the Summer Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) hosted by the San Diego Nanotechnology Infrastructure (SDNI) at UC San Diego, would like to share this great opportunity with you. Undergraduate STEM students are encouraged to apply! The application is currently open and closes in January 31.
