Student Fee Reports

College Based Fee (CBF)

In 2002, a majority of Cal Poly students voted in favor of the College Based Fee (CBF) - a $200 per quarter fee added to tuition.  Originally large amounts of CBF budget were available for students to provide input on and to spend towards equipment and lab improvements. Around 2009, state funding was reduced and CBF has been used mostly since then to fund faculty payroll costs so that essential courses can be taught.

MATE students are presented $2,00 - $5,000 each year in CBF budget.  At an informal "Town Hall" meeting, students discuss how they would like to spend this allocation (e.g., project supplies, student travel to conferences, and/or equipment maintenance).

Student Success Fee (SSF)

The Student Success Fee took effect Fall Quarter 2012. SSF is used to fund faculty payroll with the intention of not only offering courses required to fulfill degrees but also to improve support to students by being able to offer more classes, counselors, and programs that enhance student experiences.
