MESS is the Materials Engineering Student Societies

MESS is the student club that includes the professional Materials Advantage chapter and Materials Research Society (MRS) student chapter at Cal Poly. The Materials Advantage membership includes:

MESS has weekly meetings with industry speakers and social events. They also participate in outreach and Open House events.

Alpha Sigma Mu logo

Alpha Sigma Mu is the International Professional Honor Society for Materials Science And Engineering.

The honor society recognizes students who possess a high degree of exemplary integrity, leadership, and initiative. Initiates must have at least junior standing and are rank in the top third of all MatE students in the department. Members have performed department and community service, and fund raise for the annual MATE banquet for the entire department.
